The European Six Sigma Club Germany (ESSC-D) has been awarding prizes for scientific work dealing with the application of the Six Sigma methodology for 10 years. Every year, it looks for the best work on the further development of the Six Sigma methodology in companies and at German-speaking universities and colleges. In 2020, the gold award goes to Philipp Müller from Koblenz University of Applied Sciences for his master’s thesis “Analysis and Optimization of Shopfloor Management” at Canyon Bicycles GmbH. The silver award goes to Jens Hüsänger for his master’s thesis “Analysis of a tumbling process for the production of customized semi-finished products with preformed discrete functional elements.” He comes from the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. Anna Meyerhofer from Landshut University of Applied Sciences won bronze for her master’s thesis “Optimization of the reject rate caused by time stamp errors in the production of exhaust gas sensors”. The “German Six Sigma Award Practice” for the best practical application of the Six Sigma methodology was awarded to Christian Hahn from SCHOTT Schweiz AG for the project “Syringes Improved Siliconization Process”.
Despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, numerous projects were also submitted in 2020. “We are delighted that people are working intensively on optimizing business processes, even in the face of the noticeable restrictions. This is a good sign and an important contribution to ensuring that the German economy does not lose its innovative strength,” says Almut Melzer, who coordinates the jury for the German Six Sigma Award at the ESSC-D. The European Six Sigma Club Germany congratulates the winners and thanks them for all their submissions. The public award ceremony will take place on September 16, 2021 at the Six Sigma Conference in Berlin. Further information can be found on the ESSC-D website ( www.sixsigmaclub.de) under the heading Dates. Entries for the Six Sigma Award 2021 can be submitted throughout the year until the end of September 2021.
