At the beginning of March, Six Sigma experts from all over Germany met in Darmstadt for the annual conference of the European Six Sigma Club (ESSC-D). More than 100 specialists from well-known companies as well as experts from research and science attended the two-day event. “We are delighted that we were able to welcome so many high-caliber experts. Six Sigma as a concept for processes that are as error-free as possible is of central importance to us,” stated Raymond Edward Jubb from Merck, Corporate Master Black Belt, on the fringes of the conference. The conference focused on the use of creativity techniques in the Six Sigma methodology. “I was very impressed by the diversity and possible applications of the various creativity techniques in connection with Six Sigma projects,” summarized Eckhard Freudenberger from Schneider-Kreuznach.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the Six Sigma Award 2011 to Maximilian Wilhelm from the University of Erlangen/Nuremberg for his work “Integration of the Kepner-Tregoe approach into the DMAIC system”. The successful implementation and further development of the Six Sigma methodology was described in numerous presentations using examples from a wide range of sectors and industries: Raymond Edward Jubb from Merck, Frank Roebers from Synaxon, Erik Schwulera from Siemens Motion Control, Thomas Seffern from Continental ContiTech and Frieder G. Knebel from Thüringen Kliniken used concrete examples to show how creative processes are designed in practice with the help of Six Sigma. Workshops provided an opportunity for an intensive exchange of ideas and thoughts.
The next Six Sigma conference of the ESSC-D will take place on March 7 and 8, 2013. Anyone interested in being the next host of this important event is asked to get in touch with the association.
