It is standard practice for task forces to be used for urgent and complex problems. Unfortunately, it is not (always) the case that systematic work is carried out within the task forces. To counteract this, the quality management team at Festo Microtechnology AG decided to anchor the 8D system within the task forces and to integrate Six Sigma into the problem-solving process. How this symbiosis worked for the manufacturer of magnetic pilot controls.
