Six Sigma experience: Use of Chat GPT for working with data and data analysis

Wedel, 10.10.2023

As part of the European Six Sigma Club’s online lecture series, Dr. Michael Ohler reported on his practical experience with AI in general and “How do I use ChatGPT for my work with data and for data analysis?” in particular. According to this, high-quality data and texts, algorithms and a certain level of computer performance are essential prerequisites. Thanks to APIs for AIs such as ChatGPT, Bard & Co, this is where great opportunities arise. Many users are currently dissatisfied with the current status of free AI. But even under the current conditions, viable solutions are certainly possible, as the presentation showed. However, certain issues remain unresolved: outsourcing analysis tasks to AI means that the analysis can no longer be tracked. For example, if employees chat with the online AI about internal company information, this could result in a huge “leak” of knowledge and data. You should be aware of this. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the potential is enormous, as intelligent data analysis and Six Sigma can be used to quickly create complete analyses. AI has particular advantages in abstract thinking, so that results can be utilized very quickly if used in a targeted and correct manner. “We want to actively shape the future of process optimization in the area of linking Six Sigma and AI, and an intensive exchange of experience is particularly important for this,” says Stefan Berg, member of the board of the European Six Sigma Club.

The ESSC-D is continuing its successful online lecture series. The next date is November 10, 2023, when the topic will be “8D project: D2 problem description is the most important and urgent phase”.
