Every year, the European Six Sigma Club Germany (ESSC-D) awards prizes for outstanding scientific and practical work that deals with the application and interaction of various optimization approaches in terms of business excellence. The ESSC-D looked for the best work in companies and at German-speaking universities and colleges.
The 2023 Gold Award goes to Florian Hartmann from Landshut University of Applied Sciences for his work “Optimization of order quality in the maintenance process of ICE multiple units at the Munich Central Station plant”. Johannes Seefried from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg received silver for his paper on “Optimization of the ultrasonic crimping process of high-frequency stranded wires”. Ramadan Alkeefo from Ravensburg-Weingarten University of Applied Sciences won the bronze prize for the project “Influence of dimensional primary packaging variation on the breakaway and sliding forces of prefilled syringes”. Johanna Nehm from Albert Handtmann Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG received the “German Six Sigma Award Practice” for the best practical application of process optimization methods for her project “Reduction of cutting valve variance”. As a special feature this year, an honorary prize was also awarded to Ivan Franz from Continental AG. He impressed the jury with his project “Process development and industrialization of an A2A laser welding process for plastic housings”. The ESSC-D would like to congratulate this year’s winners and thank them for all their submissions. “The diversity of the projects submitted and the creativity of the project teams in finding solutions amaze me every year,” says Prof. Dr. Bert Leyendecker, jury and board member of the ESSC-D.
