Winner of the “German Six Sigma Award for Business Excellence 2024”

Every year, the European Six Sigma Club Germany (ESSC-D) awards prizes for outstanding scientific and practical work that deals with the application and interaction of various optimization approaches in terms of business excellence. The ESSC-D looked for the best work in companies and at German-speaking universities and colleges.

The Gold Award 2024 goes to Christian Detterbeck from Landshut University of Applied Sciences for his work “Development of a procedure for the practice-oriented application of the” Design of Experiments “tool in switchgear construction”. The work was supervised by Prof. Dr. Thomas Faldum. Emine Zeyneb Calkan from the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences received silver for her paper on “Value stream optimization in a packaging company for a new gluing system”. Nico Moar and Jan Reschke from the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences won the bronze prize for their project “Use of exoskeletons in a forming company”. Both projects were supervised by Prof. Dr. Patrick Pötters. The “German Six Sigma Award Practice” for the best practical application of process optimization methods was awarded twice this year. The winners were Thomas Lang from Festo SE & Co. KG for the project “Improving the running properties of the ADN compact cylinder with S2 embossing” and Markus Mutter, SFS Group Schweiz AG, for the project “Optimizing the simulation of hardness profiles of hard-rolled threaded spindles using statistical methods”.

The ESSC-D would like to congratulate this year’s winners and thank them for all their submissions. “We are delighted that our award is also attracting international attention and that a company from Switzerland is among this year’s winners,” says Björn Noreik, jury and board member of the ESSC-D.
