Every year, the European Six Sigma Club Germany (ESSC-D<\/em> ) awards prizes for outstanding scientific papers that deal with the application of the Six Sigma methodology. Every year, the ESSC-D looks for the best work on the further development of the Six Sigma methodology in companies and at German-speaking universities and colleges. <\/p>

In 2021, the gold prize goes to Carlos Torosa from Friedrich-Alexander-Universit\u00e4t Erlangen-N\u00fcrnberg for his work \u201cEvaluation of the laser beam welding process of shaped strand rods with oscillating beam\u201d. Silver went to Katharina Dunkel from Landshut University of Applied Sciences for her paper on \u201cOptimizing the complaints process using the Six Sigma methodology\u201d. And bronze goes to Linda Hellmann from the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences for her work on \u201cOptimizing the technical project management of a chemical-pharmaceutical company\u201d. The \u201cGerman Six Sigma Award Practice\u201d for the best practical application of the Six Sigma methodology was awarded to Daniela W\u00f6lfle from packaging manufacturer S\u00fcdpack for the project \u201cImprovement of composite adhesion\u201d. This year, an honorary prize was also awarded for a particularly outstanding dissertation. It was awarded to Dr. Jane Worlitz from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, who wrote her dissertation on the topic of \u201cQuantitative validation of improvement projects: Creating an action plan for SMEs to improve processes using the example of perceived pre-process waiting times for services\u201d. <\/p>

The ESSC-D would like to congratulate this year’s winners and thank them for all their submissions. \u201cWe are delighted that work on optimization is continuing despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and that so many entries have been submitted,\u201d says Prof. Dr. Patrick P\u00f6tters, who coordinates the jury for the award at the ESSC-D. The public award ceremony will take place on March 24, 2022 at the Six Sigma conference in Berlin. <\/p>
