(ESSC-D) awards prizes for scientific work on the Six Sigma methodology. To this end, it looks for the best papers at German-speaking universities and colleges that contribute to the further development of the Six Sigma methodology. In 2017, Alexandra Polzmacher from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) won the gold award for “Media density of plastic-metal hybrid components”. She achieved Green Belt certification with this work. Silver went to Marina Betz from Neu-Ulm University of Applied Sciences for her bachelor’s thesis “Piloting an audit management database system”. Markus Seilkopf from the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Ravensburg also won silver for his bachelor’s thesis “Blown film extrusion for compliance with quality standards for further finishing processes”. Third place was not awarded this year. Thomas Rittler received the “German Six Sigma Award Practice” for the best practical application of the Six Sigma methodology for “Optimization of switching times for a pneumatic valve”. He has been a Black Belt for around a year and implemented the project at Festo AG & Co KG.

In 2017, around 10% more entries were submitted for the competition than in the previous year. “We are delighted with the continuous increase. This confirms the importance of the method and the competition award in equal measure,” says Almut Melzer, leading jury member of the ESSC-D. The European Six Sigma Club Germany congratulates this year’s winners and thanks them for their submissions. The public award ceremony will take place on March 8, 2018 at the Six Sigma Conference in Bad Kissingen.

Further information can be found on the ESSC-D website(www.sixsigmaclub.de) under the heading Dates.

Press release as PDF:

Winner of the German Six Sigma Award 2017

Every year, the European Six Sigma Club Deutschland e.V.
