Six Sigma experts from all over Germany met in Nuremberg at the beginning of March for the annual conference of the European Six Sigma Club (ESSC-D). Around 100 specialists from well-known companies as well as experts from research and science attended the two-day event. \u201cWe are delighted with the high level of interest and the intensive exchange of opinions and ideas,\u201d says Dieter Szemkus, Chairman of the ESSC-D. \u201cThe wide range of topics shows how well Six Sigma is developing and how many new improvement tools are being integrated into the Six Sigma methodology,\u201d says Herrmann Kehrer, Head of Global Productquality and Six Sigma Senior Master Black Belt at Giesecke & Devrient. The presentations and workshops focused on applications from everyday project work and the future development of Six Sigma. Deutsche Telekom AG, for example, uses Six Sigma in the area of business excellence in order to master processes with profitable growth and satisfied customers. And Siemens AG optimizes the marketing and sales process to reduce the return rate in the mail order business. Other topics included future-oriented technologies such as cloud computing and the Six Sigma app. <\/p>\n

The winners of the German Six Sigma Award 2012 were honored at a festive evening event. The prizes went to Zumit Muthreja (gold), Tamara Wirth (silver), Matthias Ebert (bronze) and G\u00f6khan Akkasoglu (honorary prize). The award recognizes scientific work that deals with the further development of the Six Sigma methodology. <\/p>\n

The next ESSC-D Six Sigma conference is scheduled to take place in Ulm on March 6 and 7, 2014. <\/p>\n
