AI in production – at the ESSC-D, experts discussed with participants in the online lecture series

“Artificial intelligence in production – method overview, real applications and outlook” – Franziska Schäfer and Jupiter Bakakeu from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, Chair of Manufacturing Automation and Production Systems (FAPS), spoke on this topic in an online lecture by the European Six Sigma Club on March 12. More than 50 listeners learned about the jungle of buzzwords surrounding artificial intelligence and machine learning. The introduction to machine learning processes in particular was illustrated by practical examples, such as applications in plant maintenance, the optical quality inspection of printed circuit boards and energy optimization in production. Challenges relating to the specific application in companies were extensively highlighted and lively discussed.

The lecture series got off to a successful start in 2020. “We are delighted with the lively participation and want to continue to expand our network even in times of the pandemic. The discussion of relevant topics relating to Six Sigma and process optimization with top-class experts will continue,” says Björn Noreik from the Six Sigma Club board.

The next date in the lecture series is 15 April on the topic of “Shortening the duration of optimization projects”. This will be followed on 5 May by “Opportunities through digitalization, home office and agility”. Further information on the lecture series and the other dates in 2021 can be found on the ESSC-D website at: https://www.sixsigmaclub.de/six-sigma-club/termine.html
