European Six Sigma Club Germany and German Society for Quality support resource efficiency initiative

The European Six Sigma Club Deutschland e.V. (ESSC-D) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualität e.V. (DGQ) support the German government’s resource efficiency initiative. Together with the IHK Ostwürttemberg and the VDI Centre for Resource Efficiency, they organized a full day of information, presentations and discussions in Heidenheim in November to show how easy it is for companies to achieve more resource-efficient work. One focus was on the opportunities that digitalization already offers today. Six Sigma methods have been proven to help achieve significant savings in the use of energy, water and materials. The expert networks ESSC-D, DGQ and VDI Center for Resource Efficiency can jointly support companies in the use of resource-saving methods. “We are delighted about the great interest shown by the business community and want to promote the initiative together,” says Dr. Stephan Back, Regional District Manager Ostalb-Donau of the DGQ.

In an overarching contribution, Werner Maass from the VDI Center for Resource Efficiency in Berlin presented how important resource efficiency is for securing Germany’s long-term future as a business location. In many discussion rounds, the speakers and organizers discussed in detail how the topic can be transferred into operational practice. They also discussed the opportunities for cooperation that already exist with universities such as HTW Aalen. There are also funding opportunities, for example via the IHK or Umwelttechnik Baden-Württemberg.
