Winners of the German Six Sigma Award 2015 have been announced

Every year, the European Six Sigma Club Deutschland e.V. (ESSC-D) honors scientific work that deals with the further development of the Six Sigma methodology. To this end, it searches German-speaking universities and colleges for the best work on the further development of the Six Sigma methodology. In 2015, the gold award goes to Verena Köpnick from Kempten University of Applied Sciences for her thesis “Data analysis of process-relevant parameters of machine types in the medical sector to optimize calibration”. The silver prize went to Andre Plota from Danube University Krems for his master’s thesis “Process optimization of working hours recording as a basis for billing”. Marcel Pillen from the Cologne University of Applied Sciences won the bronze prize for his bachelor’s thesis “Job satisfaction as an optimization criterion for the Six Sigma methodology”. In the category “German Six Sigma Award Practice”, the best practical application of the Six Sigma methodology is also honored. It was awarded to Carolin Kleinlein’s team for the project “Reduction of optical distortions on planaspherically curved automotive mirrors”, which was developed at FLABEG Deutschland GmbH. Around 25% more entries were submitted to the jury this year. “We are delighted with the increasing interest shown by students and companies and see this as confirmation of the growing role of Six Sigma,” says Dieter Szemkus, Chairman of the ESSC-D. The ESSC-D would like to congratulate this year’s winners and thank them for their submissions.

The public award ceremony will take place on March 3, 2016 at the Six Sigma conference in Bayreuth. Further information can be found on the ESSC-D website(www.sixsigmaclub.de) under the heading Dates.
