Further training in Six Sigma training will be further standardized. Until now, the quality guidelines have defined the criteria and tools for training and certification as a Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt. Now, the respective teaching depth of the individual tools is also described in detail. The new guideline thus helps to specify the minimum requirements for training. The type, scope and depth of teaching are precisely classified and are used for comparison with existing or newly developed training courses. “We are thus driving forward the comparability of further training courses,” says Dieter Szemkus, Chairman of the ESSC-D. The revision of the quality standards takes into account the fact that Six Sigma training is increasingly taking place at universities. Participants are given so much knowledge that they can later apply the tools independently in practice and use them successfully in projects. In order to be certified as a Green Belt according to the ESSC-D guidelines, participants must complete around 10 days of training and have completed a project independently. The standard for Black Belt training is 20 training days. In future, ESSC-D association members will be able to use a certificate that documents compliance with the standards for training and certification of Six Sigma experts. Further information on the criteria can be found at www.sixsigmaclub.de.
Six Sigma is an extremely results-oriented methodology that shows its strength in its systematic approach to problem solving. In most cases, quality or time problems are so complex that statistically scientific methods must be used to identify the correlations. The systematic approach to improving process chains is used worldwide. With a well-defined Green Belt or Black Belt project, a company can achieve average annual savings of 40,000 to 50,000 euros. However, experience shows that the savings vary greatly depending on the project definition.
This year’s Six Sigma Conference – “From Practice – For Practice” will be held on March 5 and 6 in Bad Honnef, where German-speaking Six Sigma experts will meet and share their experiences.
