Six Sigma is an established method in process improvement. Companies are currently undergoing rapid change as a result of Industry 4.0, digitalization, the Internet of Things and Big Data. This also has an impact on the Six Sigma approach. In particular, what a Six Sigma specialist will need to know and be able to do in the future. The European Six Sigma Club (ESSC-D) wants to prepare process optimizers for this change as well as possible. Since March 2018, it has therefore been working in several special working groups under the motto “Fit for Future” to address relevant issues and further develop the Six Sigma methodology. Among other things, the focus is on analyzing the effects of current megatrends such as “connectivity” on the application of Six Sigma as well as the integration of new methods for analyzing large amounts of data into the Six Sigma project process. “We are making our Green Belts and Black Belts fit for the new opportunities that the digital revolution will bring – a challenging task,” says Stefan Berg, board member of the ESSC-D and working group leader of the corresponding initiative.
The working group meetings take place both virtually and on site at various locations in Germany. If you would like to take part and collaborate, please contact the association at essc@sixsigmaclub.de.
