European Six Sigma Club Germany met in the model factory at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences

KOBLENZ – The rapid progress of digitalization is not only having a strong impact on society, but also on tried-and-tested management approaches. Leading company representatives from all over Germany discussed how business processes can be further optimized against this backdrop at the annual closed conference of the European Six Sigma Club Deutschland e.V. (ESSC-D) in the Model Factory at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences.

The participants of the retreat discussed the future of process optimization and the resulting requirements, particularly for the Six Sigma methodology. In order to develop it further, they worked out the key points together, taking into account new trends such as digitalization, big data and data analytics. In doing so, they analyzed both the tools for process improvement and current technical trends as well as the requirements of the users more intensively.

Six Sigma is about systematically improving processes by applying analytical and statistical methods, whereby each business process is described as a mathematical function. The Model Factory at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences also aims to improve processes, where model value chains in miniature format and various business games simulate business processes and make them tangible. “We deliberately chose the Model Factory as the venue for the conference to make it clear that the proven Six Sigma methods can be ideally complemented and visualized by such more playful methods,” emphasizes Prof. Dr. Bert Leyendecker, board member of ESSC Germany, who currently holds a research professorship in the fields of production management and business excellence at the Faculty of Economics at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences.

On November 22, 2019, the European Six Sigma Club will once again be a guest at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences. In a one-day event, interested companies and individual participants can be inspired by presentations on the topic of “process optimization and digitalization” and talk to the experts present.
