The European Six Sigma Club Deutschland e.V. (ESSC-D) presents the four winners of the 2019 competition. Every year, it honors scientific work that deals with the application of the Six Sigma methodology. To this end, it looks for the best work on the further development of the Six Sigma methodology at German-speaking universities and colleges.
The Gold Award 2019 goes to Franziska Schäfer from the Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) in Erlangen-Nuremberg for her thesis “Application of the DMAIC cycle for the development of a data-based fault prediction system”. Andrea Berger from Landshut University of Applied Sciences received the silver prize for her master’s thesis “Fault pattern crack in the G31 LTH”. Maikel Weis and his team from Koblenz University of Applied Sciences won bronze for their thesis “Analysis of delivery performance evaluation by OES (Original Equipment Services) in the Neuwied aftermarket segment”. The “German Six Sigma Award Practice” for the best practical application of the Six Sigma methodology was awarded to Serena Guth from Südpack Verpackungen GmbH & Co. KG for her project “Improving process reliability for laser orders”. Increasingly, female students are also submitting their work. “We are pleased to see that Six Sigma is no longer a purely male domain. This time, women also predominate among the award winners,” says Almut Melzer, leading jury member of the ESSC-D. In addition, an honorary prize was awarded in 2019 to Dr. Thomas Seffern, who dealt intensively with the topic of “Development of a management and measurement system for integrated effectiveness and efficiency enhancement in the company’s own value chain” in his doctoral thesis.
The European Six Sigma Club Germany congratulates all winners and thanks them for their submissions. The awards ceremony will take place on March 12, 2020 at the Six Sigma Conference in Berlin. Entries for the Six Sigma Award 2020 can be submitted throughout the year, starting in January. Further information: www.sixsigmaclub.de under the heading Dates.
