Winner of the 2026 German Six Sigma Award for Business Excellence
Each year, the European Six Sigma Club Germany (ESSC-D) recognizes outstanding academic and practical work that focuses on the application and interaction of various optimization approaches in the context of business excellence. The ESSC-D has sought out the best such work from companies as well as German-speaking universities and colleges.
The 2026 German Six Sigma Gold Award for Science goes to Levin Strasen of Landshut University of Applied Sciences for his work “Process Optimization of Re-work in Front Axle Carrier Manufacturing.” The Silver Prize is awarded to Luise Millen and Katharina Schattschneider from Koblenz University of Applied Sciences for their paper “Improvement of the Approval Process for Wind Turbines in the SGD North Region.” The Bronze Prize is awarded to Luca-Claudio Adrioli from the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences for his thesis “Reusable Load Carrier Management for Data-Driven Analysis and Optimization of Logistical Processes in Rail Vehicle Production.”
This year’s German Six Sigma Practice Award goes to Dr. Steffen Kühn of Carl Zeiss SMT GmbH. The award recognizes his project , “Optimization of the Beam Shape in an Electron Beam System,” which serves as an exemplary demonstration of how Six Sigma methods can be successfully applied to improve technologically sophisticated production processes.
The ESSC-D congratulates this year’s award winners and thanks all participants for their submissions. “The high quality of the submitted entries and their direct practical relevance are particularly impressive. The award winners demonstrate that scientific findings and business applications together create real added value for companies,” says Lena Thiele, Chair of the ESSC-D Board of Directors.
