Every year, the European Six Sigma Club Germany (ESSC-D) awards prizes to outstanding scientific papers that deal with the application of the Six Sigma methodology. For the first time this year, the focus is broader and now includes the interaction of different optimization approaches in terms of business excellence. The ESSC-D looked for the best work in companies and at German-speaking universities and colleges.
In 2022, the gold prize goes to Lena Thiele from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences for her paper “Analysis and optimization of the administration and billing process of a growing franchise system using the example of einsnulleins GmbH”. Silver was awarded to Lukas Emilius from Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg for his paper on “Investigating the optimization potential of the tool change strategy in mechanical engineering using a stochastic modelling approach”. Bronze was awarded twice: To Marco Niggemeier from the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences for his paper “Optimization of workplace design in outgoing goods taking into account selected lean management methods” and to the project team Klara Engert, Katrin Keip, Eric Manz, Jaqueline Schado and Niklas Wagner from the Koblenz University of Applied Sciences for the project “Optimization of the loading process at the ramps of Rhenus Home Delivery Düsseldorf”. Dr. Francisc Haidu from VACOM Vakuum Komponenten & Messtechnik GmbH received the “German Six Sigma Award Practice” for the best practical application of process optimization methods for the project “Development and improvement of OEE key figures in the high-end area of industrial parts cleaning”. The ESSC-D would like to congratulate this year’s winners and thank them for all their submissions. “The quality of the submissions confirms the contemporary development of the award into the German Six Sigma Award for Business Excellence,” says Michael Kierdorf, Chairman of the ESSC-D. The public award ceremony will take place on March 16, 2023 at the Six Sigma conference in Wiesbaden.
