The four winners of the German Six Sigma Award 2016 have been announced

Every year, the European Six Sigma Club Deutschland e.V. (ESSC-D) honors scientific work that deals with the application of the Six Sigma methodology. To this end, it looks for the best work on the further development of the Six Sigma methodology at German-speaking universities and colleges. In 2016, the gold award went to Janis Wolff from the Friedrich-Alexander University in Erlangen-Nuremberg for his master’s thesis “Estimation of the model and forecast accuracy of a DoE for an optimized determination of the number of trials”. The silver prize went to Martin Müller for his master’s thesis “Hedging the replacement time”. He also comes from the Friedrich-Alexander University. Alexandra Kraft from Koblenz University of Applied Sciences won bronze for her master’s thesis “Improvement of the capacity utilization using Six Sigma DMAIC tools and processes”. This year’s “German Six Sigma Award Practice” for the best practical application of the Six Sigma methodology goes to Laura Müller for the project “DMAIC powered by TRIZ – Integration of suitable TRIZ methods into the individual DMAIC phases”, which she developed at Siemens AG.

The trend towards more submissions continued in 2016. “We are very pleased that more universities have once again taken part and that more and more sectors are joining in,” says Prof. Bert Leyendecker, board member of the ESSC-D. The European Six Sigma Club Germany congratulates this year’s winners and thanks them for their submissions. The public award ceremony will take place on March 9, 2017 at the Six Sigma Conference in Nuremberg. Further information can be found on the ESSC-D website (www.sixsigmaclub.de) under the heading Dates.
